One of my favourite games has to be Blackjack. Whether you’re expanding your horizons or are a seasoned pro, play it cool as you step up to the felt. You’ll love the excitement and the massive rewards on offer in this online table game. This popular two-person game can be found in casinos all over Australia. It’s easy to see why it’s one of the best online games in the land down under, 21 is still the magic number. Blackjack is easy to learn, requires a smidgeon of talent, and if you know your stuff you can seriously increase your odds of earning some big cash wins.

Before I give some of my best ideas on strategy, it’s important to do a bit of study first. Let’s get your head around the rules and how to play

Table Games That Push Cash in Your Pocket

To win a round of Blackjack, you have to beat the dealer. You’ll both have a hand of at least two cards, and to win, you need to have a higher score than the dealer, without going over 21 points. The value of each card is covered below.

How to Play Online Blackjack

First things first, choose how much to wager (or play for free) by selecting the $1, $5, $25, $100 and $500 chips at the bottom-right of the screen.

Click deal to get a two-card hand. The dealer will also receive a two-card hand, with one card face-up and the second card face-down on the table. There’s no need to calculate your hand’s value; the numerical value of each hand is shown in white font on the table.

Choose to Hit, Stand, Double, and if you have two of the same cards, you can also Split. If you’re playing six-deck blackjack, you can also Surrender. The Surrender, Split and Double options are explained in the rules.

If the score of your two-card hand is low and you want to increase it by adding another card, click Hit. Conversely, if you believe the score of your two-card card is high enough to beat the dealer, click “Stand.”

The dealer will also get the opportunity to hit or stand. At the end of the round, the dealer’s hand will be revealed, and the winner will be announced.

Blackjack Features and Rules

Card Values

Aces are worth 1 or 11.

2-10 have face value.

Face cards are worth 10.

Rules

The highest hand is a blackjack, which consists of one Ace and one 10-point card.

In six-deck and single-deck blackjack, the dealer must hit on a soft 17. A soft 17 is a hand that has an 11-point Ace.

In double-deck blackjack, the dealer must stand on a soft 17.

The option to double will double your bet and deal you one final card.

Surrendering forfeits the round and half of your wager.

Being dealt two cards of equal value gives the option to split, meaning, you can split the two-card hand into two individual hands. Each hand will automatically receive a second card from the dealer, at which point, you choose whether to hit, stand or double for each hand.

If you split Aces, you will only receive one additional card for each hand.

Getting a 10 and Ace from a split hand results in a score of 21, not blackjack.

You can split up to three hands.

When the dealer’s face-up card is an Ace, you’ll be asked if you want to make a side bet called Insurance, which is half of your original bet. If the dealer gets blackjack, and you lose the hand, your Insurance bet will pay you 2 to 1.
