Well mate, it’s very nearly time for the best Grand Final weekend of the entire year.  Yeah, that’s right – I called it. Weekends do not get much better than not one but two Grand Finals. Grand Final weekend 2016 is going to be one you remember, if you follow my hot tips.

Not sure when to plan for? The AFL Grand Final date is 1^st October 2016 and the NRL Grand Finals are on 2^nd October.  So hurry up and mark it in your calendar. You don’t want to miss out on all the hijinks you and the boys could be having!

Six Steps to Having a Great Grand Final Weekend

Step One

The first step to having an epic weekend with your mates is to hand over the credit card to the missus.  Might sound drastic, but that means she’ll be spending two blissful days shopping while you and your mates are holed up at home (or the pub) watching your favourite teams battle it out.

Step Two

The second step is to get your mates together for a poker night and plan the weekend. Decide on your favourite pub or whose house you want to head to (I’d be nominating Gazza as quick as a meat axe, he has the biggest barbie and then you don’t have to clean up the mess after).

Step Three

Decide who you’re backing, throw a sly $50 at your winning team on the way to the bottle-o to pick up enough beer to cover the weekend. I’m not really a boutique beer kinda guy so I’ll be opting for a pure blonde.

Step Four

Put the beer in the fridge.  This is probably the most important step. You don’t want to be drinking warm beer. There is nothing worse. You’ll also want to make sure you have enough ice in the freezer to chuck in the esky to keep it cool on the day.

Step Five

The weekend is finally here. Throw on your Sydney Swans or Cronulla Sharks jersey, fill your esky with beer and steak and head on over for a weekend of fun.

Step Six

While you are waiting for the game to start have a sneaky flutter on my AFL game and you could even win some of your beer money back.
